Time-domain Reflectometry

Enhance insulation defect detection in your critical assets

TDR is primarily used to fingerprint the lengths of cables, and in calculating the precise locations of joints.

By enhancing the accuracy of high voltage partial discharge location in an asset, it contributes significantly to the predictive maintenance of cables.

TDR detects reflection pulses, which are typically signatures of joints and the termination points or ends of cables. When an electrical pulse travels down a cable, any change in the cable's impedance, such as a joint or its end, causes a reflection. By analysing these reflections, the location of such impedance changes can be calculated.
