The HVPD Kronos® Spot Tester diagnostic test unit can be used for the accurate location of PD sites along the length of high voltage cables. The technique utilises the technique of Time Domain Reflectometery (TDR) of the PD pulses which travel along the cable conductor and earth screen in power-line carrier mode. HVPD use our PDMap© Software, Portable Transponder and inductive HFCT sensors connected to the cable earths at their terminations to enable locations to be made on the in-service high voltage cable without the need for an outage.
