National Apprenticeship Week

Mar 7, 2019

Apprentices of all disciplines continue to ‘blaze a trail’ at High Voltage Partial Discharge (HVPD) as we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week.

HVPD launched an Engineering and Development apprenticeship scheme in 2012, which was rolled out to include admin and production teams in 2015. Currently, HVPD supports a number of apprenticeships across test, sales, production and admin teams – representing a network of opportunity across the whole company.

Kelly Thorley, HR Manager, said: “We’ve found that being able to provide an opportunity for our staff to learn theory, and to be able to put this to practice in real-life applications through the apprenticeship model, has been a key success which has helped our apprentices flourish in their chosen specialities, and stay with HVPD to fulfil their career ambitions.

“HVPD provides training to all employees - we’re keen on investing in our employees for personal and company development. Over the course of everyone’s employment at HVPD, we look to provide training to consolidate or stretch employees roles within the business – we’re keen on investing in our employees for personal and company development.

The Manchester-based company offer different levels of training from BTECs to HNCs, and are also looking into supporting degree apprenticeships in the future.

HVPD’s most recent apprentice Jonathan May starts an Infrastructure Technician course this month following a successful period as an intern in the IT and Software department. He said: “Learning on the job has really helped me to gain a lot of knowledge and helped me improve on my skills in many different areas.”

If you’re interested in joining the HVPD team, keep an eye on the Current Vacancies page, or send in a speculative cover letter explaining why you would like to work for HVPD.
