HVPD Go Back to Uni!

Sep 29, 2016
We are excited to be back at the University of Manchester to take part in a Managing My Future Enterprise Workshop organised by the University's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Careers Service.
HVPD and other industry professionals, including Network Rail and Ernst & Young LLT, will lead the workshop offering advice and guidance to future engineers in a variety of tasks for an Innovation Challenge: product development, sales pitches and job interview skills. The winning team will receive a cash prize and will have 6 weeks to create an actual product prototype.
As a company, we have a longstanding history with the University of Manchester, with a number of high calibre Manchester graduates joining our team over the past decade and quickly progressing into senior positions including Development Engineers and company Directors.
Our strong bonds with the University of Manchester have helped HVPD to develop several of our key technologies, by informing new product developments from the field of partial discharge condition assessment of HV insulation.
We are also regularly involved in technical conferences at the University and have undertaken extensive research projects alongside them, with the most recent project being a 3-year collaboration funded with Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) grant. The project is supporting the development and expansion of HVPD's condition monitoring technology for the remote on-line PD assessment of in-service rotating high voltage (HV) machines including motors and generators. The project also includes the development of a new solution for the condition monitoring of the stator insulation on variable speed drive (VSD) HV motors that are widely used in the oil, gas and petrochemical process industries.
We look forward to continuing to work closely together with the Manchester University in regards to recruitment and research and development opportunities. We would also like to wish the best of luck to all teams that are competing today!
We are always keen to hear from talented professionals and welcome speculative applications for collaborative work on final year work or placements. We also run an internship project in the summer months which allows students to gain real-life work experience to put their learning into perspective.
