Working through the HVPD Kronos® Spot Tester, the MCSA software is able to diagnose problems with a motor. Utilised alongside On-line Partial Discharge testing, this can mean that faults can be pre-empted, and preventative maintenance carried out.
MCSA testing is non-intrusive, and is carried out by analysing the frequency content of the 50/60 Hz current waveform through the motor. The software can detect electrical problems with the rotor, as well as broken rotor bars, and dynamic/static eccentricity.
Ultimately, MCSA is another tool that allows users to track the performance of an asset and react accordingly to prevent unplanned outages.
