Why Attend?
Electrical insulation deterioration causes up to 90% of electrical failures of medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) cables and plant, as reported in the IEEE ‘Gold Book’ and other plant failure studies. HVPD have recently introduced a new series of practical on-line Partial Discharge (PD) training courses that are designed aimed at providing delegates with a comprehensive range of trainingin partial discharge and Monitoring Technologies, from beginner (Level I), through intermediate (Level II), to PD Test Engineer (Level III).
Partial Discharge testing and monitoring is now becoming increasingly used as an integral and essential part of condition monitoring (CM) programmes for in-service MV/HV cables and plant to help ensure safety and reliable long-term operation. Both On-line and Off-line PD test and monitoring technologies are available in the marketplace to provide Off-line PD Testing at manufacture and commissioning and then continuous monitoring throughout the service life of the cable/plant.
The training courses provide an introduction to the various technologies available in the marketplace including handheld PD 'Screening' units, portable diagnostic PD ‘spot test’ units and continuous PD monitoring technologies to detect and log PD activity over extended periods of time.
The new, Level I, II and III training courses from HVPD are unique in the marketplace as they provide delegates with training in both the theoretical and practical aspects of PD testing, including practical PD testing in HVPD’s 50kV and 100kV HV Test Laboratories at our new premises at MediaCityUK, Salford.
Who is it for?
The training courses are suitable to anyone who has interest or directive to implement condition monitoring techniques and asset management of MV and HV plant. This includes Electrical Engineers and Test Technicians through to Network and Asset Managers.
