Product Overview

HVPD Ltd presents the latest addition to our integrated range of technologies for the insulation condition monitoring of high voltage plant, the new new 16-Channel HVPD Multi Permanent ™Monitor

The HVPD Multi™ Permanent Monitor is a 16 channel device which is primarily designed to monitor partial discharge activity within medium and high voltage plant. The device is designed to be wall mounted within the substation with cables connecting the device to sensors distributed in the switchgear and cable circuits.

Remote communication with the device can be established via a 10/100 LAN with optional connection using optical fibre, or via USB HSDPA modem over an available 3G cell phone network. Communication to the control station via a suitable SCADA protocol is also under development.

The number of input channels monitored by the system can be extended by adding further 16 channel units as necessary up to 64 channels as shown below in Figure 1. These additional units are arranged as 'slave' units which acquire and process test data independently but report results via a single master unit. The master unit connects to the slave units using Ethernet connectivity or via copper or fibre optic link as necessary. The slave units will have not have a display installed for local assessment of data capture but will be accessible from either the internet via a web browser or from the master unit's display.

User Interface

Locally via the master unit using built in VGA Monitor or externally via the internet using a Web browser

The device can be set up for monitoring locally whilst the sensors are attached to the unit or remotely if an internet connection is available. The setup procedure is performed by completing a web based form which contains all of the pertinent information - where sensors are connected, how long the test is to run for etc.
