Open Day Success at HVPD, Manchester!

HVPD opened its doors to invited delegates on Tuesday 28th September with its inaugural Partial Discharge Asset Management Open Day at HVPD's head office and training centre in Manchester, UK.

Over 25 delegates from consultants, asset managers, plant maintenance engineers to Senior Condition Monitoring Engineers were welcomed by various demonstration displays and workshop seminars.

The Open Day gave the delegates an insight and greater understanding into the experiences in the use of PD test and monitoring technology to support asset-management decision-making for both industrial and utility clients and discussions into the different 'cost drivers' of condition monitoring.

HVPD field test and training engineers were on hand to provide practical simulated PD demonstrations, condition monitoring software database presentations and one-to-one consultations offering advice and experience sharing. Visitors had the chance to take part in workshop seminars which were held in small groups, followed by a Q&A sessions. Topics included: Past Project Case Studies, HV Cables & Outdoor Plant and the Fundamentals of PD.

Visitor feedback has been well received; 100% of the visitors would recommend the HVPD-Open Day to others. One visitor, Jon Gill of Operational Excellence (OpEx) Group Ltd said, "The day was very well organised with excellent support on the day. Overall, extremely impressed – as well as demonstrating technical capability it also showed the business operation in a very good light. I haven't made any comment on the technical material supplied as I unfortunately have not had a chance to read it yet!"

Dr. Lee Renforth, Managing Director of HVPD said, "Our first Open Day was a superb opportunity to meet new visitors from across a wide-range of sectors. We designed the day to enable us to share some of our knowledge and experience to our visitors, whilst also providing a forum for discussion between our visitors and HVPD's test engineers to discuss the application of the on-line PD test technology. Our staff worked hard to make the day a great success and this will now become an annual event in our calendar."
