HVPD Ltd recently visited an enthusiastic group of Year 9 students at the award winning Wellacre Technology College in Flixton, during their Science and Engineering in Industry Day. The day was a great success as the students got to see what a day in the life of an HVPD engineer really looked like.
HVPDs Test & Development Engineer, Steven Goodfellow and Marketing Manager, Rachel Oates gave a presentation and an overview into HVPDs varied working life as well as giving the engineers of the future a glance into what could be in store for them. This was closely followed by a practical and stimulating presentation with HV equipment and Tesla Coil.
Science teacher, Mrs Rablen was more than pleased on how the HVPD session went, she said "(The session was…) Really informative, great to see the boys learning with enthusiasm. I also learnt a lot about engineering".
Each year, the Science department at the College holds an Industry Day where guest speakers give lessons and demonstrations to Year 9 Science classes. Designed to complement the students Key Stage 3 Science and Technology studies and to get them thinking about a possible career in engineering, the Industry Day saw many other industry experts on hand to put the students through their paces.
Balfour Beatty, British Red Cross and Manchester Metropolitan University were just a few other names headlining the day.
